It follows from the high performing second single ‘More Cows Than Cowgirls’ and the ANZAC Day release of Poster Girl 20th Anniversary Version.\u000f\u000fThe Gardener & The Flower likens a partnership in life and love to tending a garden and highlights the benefits of a couple taking it in turns being the gardener or the flower.\u000f\u000fBeccy was inspired by a podcast conversation between Rosie O’Donnell and Kate Langbroek on the cusp of Rosie’s Australian Tour. “Rosie spoke beautifully about realising that for a romantic relationship to work, one person needs to be the nurturer, the other needs to allow themselves to be helped. The trick is to swap roles and to know when it’s time to do so. She likened the process to a gardener and a flower, and I picked up the guitar with the chorus fully formed in my head,” says Beccy.\u000f\u000fBeccy’s storytelling is powerful, evocative and draws on her memories of her grandparents, both avid gardeners and together, shared a life of more than 60 years. “We had Grandma right up until just before her 104th birthday in 2023, she remains my biggest inspiration in life, she’s with me always,” Beccy says of her late grandmother, Gloria.\u000f\u000fThe Gardener & The Flower highlights the beautiful guitarwork of Julz Parker who also plays harmonica and sings harmony alongside Leesa Gentz. Parker, Gentz and drummer, Ali Foster all feature on Beccy’s recordings and can be experienced as part of Beccy’s touring band, Sisters of Twang.\u000f
“Through the Haze” was recorded over two sessions at The Rabbit Hole recording studios with Dingo music productions along with Beccy’s band, Sisters of Twang, Jet McCormack and Ricky Albeck. It was mixed by award winning producer and engineer, Matt Fell. “There’s no single producer on this record”, Beccy says “I surrounded myself with my favourite people and we all had exactly the same input. I can’t wait to share the collection.”\u000f\u000fWhile Beccy claims to have “gone easy” so far, she admits there are a few ‘bangers’ to come that hit home hard about her divorce, many with her trademark sense of humour.
