From the classic backbeat intro, to the twanging Fender guitar, The Rams are ready to set the benchmark in memorable beer songs with their new single, ‘Ice Cold Beer’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The song started as a title challenge exchange between band members Troy Henderson and Adam Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I was standing at the corner of Wentworth and Oxford streets in Sydney and I sent a text message to Adam with an idea about an ice cold heart and an ice cold beer,” Troy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Adam was on holidays with a guitar and fired back a verse and a tweaked chorus. After many belly laughs and some crafting, pardon the pun, the song Ice Cold Beer was born.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The band said the song came together very quickly in the rehearsal studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We came up with a middle 8 that both Meatloaf and Fleetwood Mac would endorse, then Grev (Michael Greville) added some quenching guitar parts, and we finished it off in the recording studio twice!” Adam said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I had that mad professor moment where I knew it needed something else, but just couldn’t figure it out on the day. We knew this was an audience sing a long song, so it suddenly then obvious we needed more backing vocals. Troy and I headed back into the studio for some finishing touches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We knew we were onto something when we played it at a live show and the next day was approached by some in a shopping centre saying, ‘You’re in the band with the beer song’.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three band members said many of their songs begin as a title challenge or a text message and the ones that get momentum end up as collaborative finished songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adam, Troy, and Grev have spent years touring the world and playing for other well-known artists. It’s time to let their own music shine. They bring their past into the present with a mix of rock, funk, blues, and a whole lot of country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We’ve worked with enough incredible artist to know what works and what doesn’t,” Adam said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It’s time we do that for ourselves with The Rams.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The band describes their first release as like being in a new relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We don’t sit down next to you on the bar stool and pour our hearts out in the first 5 minutes. We want to be up, happy, and interesting to draw people in,” they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ice Cold Beer showcases the band wants to have a good time and want their audience to as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It’s a very accessible song both melodically and lyrically,” Troy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The guy in this song feels like he’s in a country song, he feels like a clich\u00e9 trying to bond and find a mate only to be used.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rams’ music is all about making people feel something, too, and Ice Cold Beer is all about making people move, sing and feel thirsty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
