Australian guitar icon Ian Moss has released his 8th solo album ‘Rivers Run Dry’ debuting Top 20 on ARIA Album Chart
Containing 12 tracks, ‘Rivers Run Dry’ is a musical feast, co-produced by Ian and Brent Clarke, the album once more displays Mossy’s well-documented guitar-playing genius and a voice that floats like a butterfly and yet can pack the punch of a Mallee bull
The lead single from ‘Rivers Run Dry’, the anthemic, foot-to-the-floor ‘Nullarbor Plain’, was co-written with the brilliant Troy Cassar-Daley, and has been receiving radio love right around the country
Another highlight from the album is ‘Bury Me’ which features Kasey Chambers. Written by Ian with multi Golden Guitar winning duo Mark and Jay O’Shea, it’s a song that Mossy felt would suit Kasey’s voice perfectly and he was delighted she agreed to sing on the track.
STACK Magazine’s Jeff Jenkins said in his review – “his playing is intuitive and inventive, refusing to follow a script … Mossy’s guitar work is as expressive as ever, and his vocal remains pure and fresh. Rarely has a rocker aged so gracefully.”
The ‘Rivers Run Dry’ Australian Tour kicks off in August 2023.
Month: July 2023
JR Williams – Right Wing Redneck
After several years, JR Williams returns with his brand new single, ‘Right Wing Redneck’, released Monday 31st July.
JR originally had plans to work alongside the talented Damien Cafarella in Melbourne in July 2022, to create new material. But as the devastating floods hit Northern Victoria, JR put his music on hold to lead his community in fight to save their small country town.
As things started to settle down and return to a new normal in 2023, he turned his attention back to his music.
‘Right Wing Redneck’ focuses on all the things that JR is most passionate about, and his feelings towards this great county … Australia. It’s a great upbeat, tongue in cheek, country song.
Midland – Two To Two Step
US country stars, MIDLAND are heading to Australia this month to celebrate their latest studio album THE LAST RESORT: GREETINGS FROM.
The Grammy nominated trio will be kicking off their Australian tour in Rockhampton on Friday 25th August, before heading down the east coast including a stop in the Australian home of country – Tamworth!
The country music superstars first visit to Australia was part of the international contingent headlining the inaugural C2C Music festival in September 2019. Showcasing their Texas County/traditional country style, they gripped audiences that loved their retro 70s country sound.
The hooks, though, are undeniable. Worm at the bottom of a tequila bottle strength earworms, Midland understands how to pull you into their somewhat narcotic kind of Country. Hailed by The New York Times for “their retro-country elegance,” they have the smoothest edge of anyone in Country. It’s strong stuff that goes down easy, the sort of music to put on as you drive into the sunset or sunrise.
“We wanted ‘The Last Resort’ to be a track released before the album arrives,” Cameron Duddy explains, “because it’s kind of a manifesto for everything else. You know sometimes the last resort doesn’t mean you’ve run out of options, but more that you’ve decided you’re going for the place or the thing that’s going to set you free. That freedom of letting go and falling into space, giving it over to fate? That’s where real living begins…”
THE LAST RESORT: GREETINGS FROM album represents an extension of that sound, a getaway where memories resurface, heartaches linger, and hangovers are plentiful. A MIDLAND show is all about a good time, blending those classic honkytonk vibes with their neo traditional sounds and they are bringing it all your way this August and September!
Proudly supporting MIDLAND is Australia’s own country music superstar and multiple Golden Guitar Award winner, Travis Collins.
TC Cassidy – Alive Again
TC Cassidy has been warmly welcomed back into the country music fold, and her aptly titled new single, Alive Again, celebrates overcoming demons.
The name Tania, or TC, Cassidy is sure to be familiar to those fans of Australian country music in the 1990s and, at the urging of friend and producer Angus Gill, she released an album last year.
Alive Again, released on July 28, shows listeners a more mainstream take on TC’s musical talents.
Although not written by TC, the singer-songwriter relates deeply to the song’s themes.
“We were talking about what to record next when Angus mentioned this song that he wrote with Alan Mackey, Tim James and Rivers Rutherford,” she said.
The song was born in 1976 when Alan was working with Countdown.
“Alan started writing the song, but then shared the concept with Angus (decades later), and they co-wrote it with Tim James who has written for Chris Stapleton and Rivers Rutherford who wrote When I Get Where I’m going for Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton,” TC said.
In the three decades that TC was out of the music industry, she was raising two children, and battling eating disorder, bulimia.
“My eldest daughter, Shelby, my 15-year-old saved my life because the day I found out I was pregnant, I knew I had to do something about the bulimia,” TC said.
“The song is all about battling demons and I battled a demon and came out the other side. This was also during a toxic relationship and domestic violence and that’s where it struck a chord with me.
“If speaking out about this helps one person, it’s so worth it because I battled it so long: it affects your personality, mood swings, everything and I don’t wish anyone to go down that spiral.”
The anthem of survival is also sure to strike a chord with listeners with a positive feel that reaches into the country disco realms.
“It’s still got those country instruments with a country dance vibe – it doesn’t matter what style I sing, it’s still going to sound country,” TC said.
“It’s still authentically true to myself, but hopefully it can attract a mainstream audience as well and shows an evolution in my music.”
The film clip is sure to turn a few heads, featuring brightly coloured drag queens showcasing the fun theme of the song where everybody’s overcome the darkness and come out the other side.
“I heard Alive Again on a work tape and I said, ‘this could have easily have been written for me’ and it can relate to so many on many levels,” TC said.
“We show this in the film clip with the fellow who’s beaten an alcohol addiction, the girl in the toxic relationship and I wanted to feature the drag queens – people who’ve come out and been true to themselves and are feeling alive again.”

Felicity Dowd – Honeycomb & Glue
You know you’re on a winner when your new single becomes a wedding song for couples before it’s even released.
Felicity Dowd’s latest single, ‘Honeycomb and Glue’, flowed from her pen in just 20 minutes and, sees the young artist delves into the complexities of a mature relationship.
Honeycomb and Glue is a metaphor for those relationships that consist of two people who don’t seem to be compatible, argue a lot, but stick together.
“This song has seemed to connect well with so many different people. It’s about the couples that don’t make sense on paper, they’re a bit abrasive, but no matter what, they’re strong relationships and stick together through thick and thin,” Felicity said.
“They support each other through hard times. This can also relate to families, and all those connections that can last through as many different circumstances as possible – that’s a beautiful thing. I think of this as a mature love song because they’re stuck in love. The song is also very Australian.”
The song has struck such a chord with listeners that couples have approached the NSW South Coast singer-songwriter to ask if they could have it as ‘their song’.
“It’s a bit of an honour,” she said.
“I’m hoping just to reach as many different people as possible. It’s different to my other songs like ‘Blue Skies’ and shows that it doesn’t have a political issue at hand, but it has a universal theme that everyone can relate to it.”
Felicity will wrap up her extensive tour that has taken her through NSW, South Australia and Victoria on release day, July 21, before she jumps back into the real world with her University of Wollongong studies in media.

The Ettalong singer-songwriter’s latest single, ‘Here Comes The Weekend’, was inspired by the feeling of getting the chance to kick back and enjoy family time.
“Everyone enjoys their weekend differently – some people go out and travel and explore and camp but for me, when I get to the end of my week, on a Monday and Tuesday, I don’t want to do anything,” Jamie said. “I want to kick back and relax and be a homebody and take it all in and shake off the world.”

Pete Denahy – Those Old Fiddle Tunes Make Him Cry
Pete Denahy’s career so far has seen him produce records that range from ridiculous comedy, through to straight ahead bluegrass, where he and his fiddle feel very much at home. He cut his teeth with the Slim Dusty show in the late nineties, and then went on to present his own show at festivals and halls.
He works “old style” mostly. His love of tradition means that nearly all his shows are just shy of being steam driven. A condenser mic, a couple of speakers, and some handmade instruments, provide a vehicle for songs that range from whacky to heartbreaking.
The fourth single from his upcoming record is ‘Those Old Fiddle Tunes Make Him Cry’. Written with Nick and Tom Wolfe (The Wolfe Brothers), it’s a song that looks back on the contribution of the fiddle to great old country songs.
The song was produced by Simon Johnson (Hillbilly Hut), and features the fine musicianship of Michel Rose (pedal steel), Brad Bergen (drums), Simon Johnson (bass), James Gillard (backing vocals), and Pete on fiddle and acoustic guitar.
In time, as the curtain draws back on more of the songs, a blend of heartbreak and whimsical tales will be revealed, all with an unmistakable country sound. There are four co-writes on the forthcoming album, including sessions with the award-winning Bill Whyte, good friends Nick and Tom Wolfe, the ever-productive Mike Carr, and Evan Murphy of bluegrass band, Mile Twelve.
Tori Darke – Feelin’ It
Singer-Songwriter Tori Darke Returns With New Country Pop Banger ‘Feelin’ It’.

Continuously pushing the boundaries and breaking down genres, this is country music at its finest and delivers a twist. ‘Feelin’ It’ (co-written and produced by Ben Horsley) is a feel-good, powerful track that explores those intense feelings everyone gets when you first start dating. Those raw and unfiltered emotions, the butterflies and that fire that ignites us. That moment when you think the other person feels the same, but you’re both too shy to ask, and every part of you wants to scream …. are you “Feelin’ It”?
Tori sets herself apart by pouring her heart into lyrics that connect across genres and generations. After a successful Tamworth Country Music Festival earlier this year, the talented songstress has gone on to perform at The Big Chill Festival in Armidale alongside Dragon and Birds of Tokyo, Nude Up with Adam Brand and a successful New Zealand solo tour including a performance at Tussock Country Music Festival as well as selling out her first headline show of 2023 at The Beer Shed in Sydney.
Continuing her meteoric rise, Tori’s recent releases have further showcased her musical prowess. Hits like ‘Sit In A Bar’, ‘Pick Me Up’ and ‘Dodged A Bullet’ all made waves, with the latter climbing the charts to secure a spot in the Top 20 on Country Radio.
Constantly delivering a strong social media presence through her love of fashion, fitness, travel, and music ensures Tori is a relatable country music artist. Combined with a dash of sass, an undeniably powerful vocal range and catchy hook strong songs will ensure Tori Darke will be a driving force on the country music scene for many years to come.

Danielle Todd – Over You
Canadian Singer-Songwriter Danielle Todd Returns With A Sassy New Country-Pop Release ‘Over You’.
Canadian singer-songwriter Danielle Todd is carving her own authentic path in the country music scene on her own terms. Her latest single ‘Over You’ can be described as ‘sweet meets sass’ packaged up in a swinging Country-Americana tune. With an instrumental track reminiscent of Lucinda Williams, ‘Over You’ accounts what it’s like to be entirely fed up with the task of getting over someone. Heartbreak is hidden under the guise of Danielle’s latest single.
“I wrote and recorded this song quite a while ago. It’s my favourite song to sing vocally as it’s one of the most challenging. I feel like it’s the first song I’ve released to radio that’s started to shine a light on my vocal capabilities. I remember sitting with my friend Jazz (absolutely KILLER vocalist) and writing this song. We were stuck on a hook, which is unusual when so many people tend to start writing a song with a hook in mind. I can’t remember who said it first but one of us in frustration said “I am SO over this right now,” and boom! There was the hook. The rest of the song came together quite quickly and working with Jazz as a writer really brought a different sound, that I absolutely adore. I’m very proud of this song and I can’t wait for my fans to hear it!”
Drawing inspiration from female powerhouse artists like Patsy Cline, Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Faith Hill, Danielle commenced her musical career in Ontario, Canada before the bright lights of Nashville beckoned. Working five to seven days a week, Danielle earned her keep under the neon lights of Broadway. Whenever she wasn’t singing, she was honing her songwriting craft, a passion that had stuck as a result of working with acclaimed Ontario songwriter, Ambre McLean, who encouraged Danielle to take up the piano and attend various songwriting retreats.
Over the last few years, Danielle has continued to hone her sound, resulting in a pop-country mix infused with undeniable Stevie Nicks-esque inspiration. Mix that up with a touch of edginess, and a little bit of quirk that Danielle finds indictive of her sound, songs like her debut single ‘Crazy’.
Danielle’s past singles have all enjoyed high impact success on the likes of Canada’s Sirius XM, CMT, KIX Country (Australia) and Australia’s Hottest 50 Country Chart, including her most recent single ‘Heat Of The Moment’ which saw its video debut on CMT Australia. Chart success combined with several tours to Australia including performances on the Southern Hemisphere’s largest country event, Tamworth Country Music Festival have cemented a loyal ban base there.
Her highly anticipated single ‘Over You’ continues to build upon her persona as the cica-1970’s girl next door that keeps it real and relatable.
With sweet, crooning vocals sitting on top of an instrumental track reminiscent of another time and place, this swinging midtempo track joins Danielle’s catalogue as yet another tune on repeat.
Danielle Todd’s new single ‘Over You’ is out to radio on 10th July and on digital platforms on 14th July.

Ian Burns – I’m In For Love
I’m In For Love shows singer-songwriter Ian Burns at his most positive, reflected in his music and life.
Ian, a horse chiropractor who has just relocated to the NSW mid-north, said his latest song was inspired by the things most important to him in life.
“I was seeing all the things going on in the world and I asked myself what was my biggest motivation,” he said.
“I’m in for love. Instead of the world being a brutal place, we should love and care for each other and want each other to succeed.”
Co-written with fellow artist and mate, Jamie Lindsay, it’s a more modern take on country music for Ian, as he stretches his creativity on I’m In For Love.
“I’d come across so much negativity at the time of writing this song and people being really spiteful to each other, but I thought this helps none of us advance,” he said.
“If we help each other achieve something, we all achieve and the positivity gets this great circle of positivity going. It makes a happier vibe, rather than taking a negative one all the time.”
The song is also reflective of where Ian is in his life, with plenty of positive changes.
“The change in the music wasn’t deliberate; it just came naturally with the song,” he said.
“As the song progressed, it lent itself to go in this direction. I enjoyed the challenges of making the song and working with new people.”
I’m In For Love was mixed and mastered by Billy Decker in Nashville featuring Jamie Lindsay on production duties along with guitars, bass and backing vocals, Evan Mannell on drums (has worked with Tim Freedman, Kasey Chambers, Tim Minchin, and Katie Noonan) and Shannon Stitt on keys (has worked with artists including Guy Sebastian and Keith Urban).
With the new sound and new single, Ian hopes to spread the love.
“I hope that people enjoy the feeling and the happy vibe of the song,” Ian said.
“I would love the audience I already have who have been so supportive for a really long time to enjoy where this song takes them, and enjoy that it’s a bit different to my other music, but it would also be great to encourage new people to my music via this song.”
Jeremy Edwards – Ghosts
‘Ghosts’, the third single from Jeremy Edwards’ soon to be released album of the same name, is the gentle, plaintive centrepiece of the upcoming album release. Initially written as a gift to Edwards’ friend Felicity Urquhart after the passing of her husband and dear friend of Nicholson and Edwards, Glenn Hannah.
Jeremy explains ‘I had to find a way to talk about being ok after Glenn. So many of us had to find a way to go on. The Ghosts aren’t all bad. They’re not baggage. They’re just with you. Always. Good and bad. We all have to find our way of dealing with them’.
‘Can you handle the ghosts?’ the wary central character asks. The ghosts are my past, your past, our loves and histories. Are we brave enough to face them?
My heart is in your hands
A feather, not a stone
So gentle, your commands
It feels like home
‘Ghosts’ has a sweet, ethereal, dreamlike quality weaving throughout. The superb, layered instrumentation and Bon Iver-esque harmonies come from no other than 15 time Australian Country Music Award, and 3 time ARIA winner Shane Nicholson (Jeremy’s boss-man in Shane Nicholson and The General Waste). Edwards’s folky fingerpicked acoustic guitar part providing a rolling counterpoint for Nicholson’s beautifully subtle and trademark work.
Jonny Reid – Portaferry
The Irishman has been entertaining Australian audiences for several years now, all the while crafting his own catalogue of original music. Originally from the small seaside town of Portaferry on the North-East Coast of Ireland, Reid’s thoughts often turn towards the simple joys of his hometown.
“I have very fond memories of where I was born and grew up, and I haven’t forgotten where I’ve come from. A simple life to some, but it was everything to me”.
The follow-up work to his iTunes number #1 debut album, ‘Portaferry’ sits somewhere between Keith Urban and Kip Moore, with Jonny letting his raspy voice shine throughout. It’s one to play loud, and one to play often.
2021 saw the release of his long-awaited debut album, ‘Another Life’, which reached number #1 on the iTunes Country Album Chart, and number #3 on the iTunes All Genre Album Chart. That success saw Reid play headline shows in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Australia in 2022.
Having previously toured with acts such as Nanci Griffith (USA), Ritchie Sambora (USA), Hermitage Green (Ire), and upcoming tours with acts Andrew Swift (Australia) and The Coronas (Ire), Reid is no stranger to performing live.
July 7th sees the release of Reid’s new single ‘Portaferry’, and the first since joining up with in demand Australian producer, Michael J. Bono (Avril Lavigne, Blink 182) creating a fresh radio friendly sound.
An electric live performer and a busy touring schedule … this year looks to be Reid’s biggest yet.
Luke O’Shea and Ashleigh Dallas – Next Best Thing
The title track to Luke O’Shea’s forthcoming album, ‘Next Best Thing’, sees Luke teaming up yet again with his multiple Golden Guitar winning musical mate, Ashleigh Dallas.
Inspired from the passing of songstress Nanci Griffith, Luke was exploring a sweet, melancholy melody found in a new open-tuning of the guitar when an impromptu telephone conversation with Ashleigh left him with the striking words ‘next best thing’.
“Imagery is everything with songwriting,” Luke said.
“And when you hear, or rather when you can paint a big visual canvas with just a few, very select words, then that is the eureka moment!”
Luke knew exactly what to do with that new melody and later that evening called Ash up to declare that they had a new duet.
“Thankfully Ash loved the song as much as I did, and she could easily relate to the various ebbs and flows of our favourite things in life,” Luke said.
“I also loved the double entendre of ‘Next Best Thing’ which seemed a perfect title for my upcoming album.”
Ashleigh said she enjoyed working with Luke on another collaboration and was looking forward to listeners hearing this new release.
The joyous video for ‘Next Best Thing’ sees the award-winning trio of Luke, Ash and video co-director Jay Seeney, of Blacklist Productions, reuniting for the first time since the success of the 2022 CMT Video Clip of the Year Golden Guitar-winning ‘Long Way ‘Round’.
“There really is a special friendship and chemistry between Ash and myself,” Luke said
“The unique ability of Jay to be able to encourage and capture that connection, and that joy, is what makes him so easy to work with and such an in-demand director.”
