Ashleigh Dallas – Setting Suns

Congratulations Ashleigh Dallas on your ‘Setting Suns’ ARIA Chart Result!

01 on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Country Album Chart.

07 on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Album Chart (all genres).

13 on the ARIA Top 40 Country Album Chart.

‘Setting Suns’ also hit #01 on the Australian Independent Record Labels Association Album Chart.

“There is something about Dallas’ voice, without obvious effort and certainly without the affectations of mournful instrumentation or mood-imposing arrangements, which carries that tone and makes you look past the surface and the subtext to something deeper still. Something in you, beyond the song.

Rather than weighing the song down, her voice quietly opens up the possibilities of interpretation, so that absences tug a little harder, pleasures come slightly questioned, futures feel a bit more uncertain. Something is at play underneath, niggling at this benign surface.

What’s it like when sound is bright, the words optimistic and the energy up, but there’s something in the voice, something deeper, that may be telling you another story?” – Bernard Zuel

Five time Country Music Award Of Australia (Golden Guitar) winning artist, Ashleigh Dallas, is proud to unveil her sixth studio album, ‘Setting Suns.’

The new record, crafted with the expert touch of Country Music Award Of Australia (Golden Guitar) winning producer Brett Dallas, marks a pivotal moment in Ashleigh’s musical journey. The collaboration between father and daughter working on Dallas’ sixth studio album showcases their love and resilience, as outside forces created barriers that they had to overcome.

‘Setting Suns’ is a testament to Ashleigh’s evolution as a songwriter, as each track explores profound themes of family, love, unpredictability, and grief. The album also highlights the strength in Ashleigh’s own musicianship, with her playing an array of instruments including banjo and fiddle alongside fellow musicians Brett Dallas, Lindsay Dallas and Michel Rose.

Dallas has been consistently building strong foundations over her fifteen years of recording, however the strength and growth in her latest offering highlight her ability to translate personal experiences into universal connections.

Production by Brett Dallas, whose renowned craftsmanship has shaped some of Ashleigh’s previous award-winning works, sees Ashleigh’s vision come to life with a sound that is both fresh and deeply resonant.

The album reflects Ashleigh’s journey towards embracing her own legacy, celebrating the strength she’s gained, and the distinctive path she has carved in country music. We also see Dallas honour her songwriting, digging lyrics from her most inner self.

“This album is the beginning of a new chapter for me,” Ashleigh Dallas shares.

“Setting Suns is an album we leapt into at full speed, forced to then slow down to a barely moving roll, as we faced what life was throwing our way head on. Trying to look on the bright side, I’ve embraced further self-discovery and acceptance that I will continue to share with the hope of building a stronger authentic connection with my audience, and my industry.”

“On this record, you can hear where I’ve been, and excitedly, where I’m going. I believe you can literally hear the love of our little family unit, which continues to strengthen as we come together. It’s been overwhelming, sometimes confronting, but each step filled with pure heart.”

Imogen Clark – She Will Have Her Way

Five months after releasing ‘The Art of Getting Through’ to unanimous acclaim around the globe, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Imogen Clark is rewarding fans with a massive deluxe edition of the album. This expanded edition features the new original song taken from the album sessions: ‘Ruin My Life’, co-written with Mike Meadows (Taylor Swift) and featuring Elvis Costello rhythm section Davey Faragher and Pete Thomas. It also features a new reinterpretation of the classic Neil Finn single ‘She Will Have Her Way’, recorded in LA with Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes) on drums.

“She Will Have Her Way has been one of my favorite songs for as long as I have loved music,” says Imogen. “Neil Finn has a magical ability to make the emotional sound spiritual, with melodies that take your head off and lyrics that leave enough space for you to put your whole heart into them. It was amazing to find my way into this song and try to do it justice”.

The deluxe edition always features a new version of Imogen’s heartbreaking song Squinters, reimagined as a duet with the song’s co-writer Steve Poltz, with a new extra verse. This version was recorded around Imogen and Steve’s performance of the song at Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival this Easter.

Additionally, fans can delight in alternate “Nashville mixes” of Squinters and the title track, acoustic versions of If I Want In, Big One, All Hard Feelings, The Art of Getting Through, Squinters and Sebastian, and a full live in studio performance of the entire album with Imogen’s Australian band, complete with string and horn sections on selected songs.

It has been nonstop for the Australian-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter since the album’s initial release in May. Hot off the heels of Nashville and LA headline dates, she headed to the UK, kicking off her tour with a sold-out show at London’s Green Note and performed a sizzling set at The Aussie BBQ in Nashville as part of Americana Fest. Before the year is out, she will return to the UK as special guest of Kezia Gill on her ‘The Story So Far’ tour, then head out across the United States with the legendary Robyn Hitchcock, followed by a visit to her home country of Australia for a sold-out headline tour.

Next year is already shaping up a big one for an artist who has never stopped moving forward creatively, with a massive UK tour just announced and on sale for June 2025

The song ‘Haulin’ for the Double T’ honours Keith and his transport company and was one of many songs inspired by the trip. The T900 Kenworth Slim drove has since become a cherished piece of history, now honoured in the Kenworth Dealer Hall of Fame in Alice Springs.

Presented in a full-colour 12″ sleeve featuring new original artwork from acclaimed artist and designer Dave Homer, and pressed onto 2 x 180 gram Eucalypt Green vinyl discs, this collection is a must-have for Slim Dusty fans.
