The song captures the gut-punch moment when love slips away, leaving nothing but a barstool, a George Jones record, and the sting of heartbreak. Delivered through a lighthearted yet realistic lens, “About Time” acknowledges that you have to take the good with the bad. With raw honesty and a classic country feel, Mack Geiger channels the timeless pain of lost love-turning it into something you can raise a glass to.

Drawing from the heartbreak anthems he grew up on, Mack blends old-school storytelling with modern grit, making “About Time” a track that will resonate with anyone who’s ever had to say goodbye.

“About Time is a song about that gut-punch moment when you realise loves slipped away, but then realising you were probably punching above your weight anyways. It’s a humbling song of accepting that you had a good stint while you had it, but the hurt’s been a long time coming.”

Mack Geiger grew up on cattle stations in Central Queensland, where the rugged landscape and country lifestyle shaped his musical identity. Drawing inspiration from traditional and ’90s country, he blends old-school authenticity with a fresh, modern perspective. Lyn Bowtell – Cold Shiver

Lyn Bowtell Releases Bittersweet Single, ‘Cold Shiver’

Lyn Bowtell returns with a new single that marks a fresh step forward in her musical journey. ‘Cold Shiver,’ out May 16, blends the sound of late-70s rock with country sensibility – driven by retro piano, Allman Brothers-style guitars, and a storyline steeped in memory, reflection, and longing.

Written during a songwriting retreat hosted by Carter & Carter in Victoria, the track was born from a spontaneous co-writing session with Carmel Charlton, Elissa Parsons, Jenny Churchill, Lea Groves, Michelle Walker, and Melanie Gray.

“We had a spare hour, so I threw it out there, ‘Let’s write something!'” Lyn said.

“At first, they looked at me like I was mad, but we split into melody and lyric teams and just went for it. No pressure, no rules, just pure, spontaneous creativity. It was winter, and the working title was Cold Weather, but what we ended up with was something none of us could’ve written on our own.”

At its core, ‘Cold Shiver’ tells the story of a fleeting connection that left a lasting mark – one person hoping for more, the other chasing a moment.

“We imagined a guy meeting a girl at a ski resort,” Lyn explained.

“She was just after a bit of fun, but he fell harder than expected. There’s no bitterness in it, just a wistful kind of hope. That feeling when you remember someone and, out of nowhere, you get that chill … a cold shiver. It’s playful, nostalgic, and a fun to perform.”

The track showcases Rod McCormack’s soaring guitar solo and Duncan Toombs’ rich backing vocals, all captured with a production style that preserves the raw, unfiltered energy of the original co-write.

“Rod played that solo like a kid in a candy store – it’s just brimming with joy,” Lyn said.

“And Josh Schuberth nailed the drum part in one take. The whole recording feels like you’re walking into a bar, ready to tell your mates about the one that got away.”

‘Cold Shiver’ will be accompanied by a music video, shot by Roaming Creatives, set for release on May 30.

“The video really captures that spark when you meet someone unforgettable, the kind of moment that lights you up and lingers long after it’s gone,” Lyn said.

‘Cold Shiver’ is another reminder of why Lyn is one of Australia’s most respected storytellers – thoughtful, grounded, and always authentic in what she has to say.

Caitlyn Shadbolt – Homemade Honey

SINGER/SONGWRITER CAITLYN SHADBOLT RELEASES NEW SINGLE, HOMEMADE HONEY

Aussie country singer/songwriter, Caitlyn Shadbolt, releases her new single, “Homemade Honey”. An accomplished songwriter, Caitlyn penned the track with the equally prolific, Gavin Carfoot, who also co-produced the track. This is the follow up to her most recent single, “Where The Lemons Grow”.

Set to perform at this year’s Gympie Muster, Caitlyn describes the inspiration behind the song:

“There’s a different kinda quality in ‘homemade’. Your mum’s cooking, the playground your dad built you as a kid, the veggies you grow, the eggs you collect – you get the picture. In a world that is full of fast food and flat pack furniture, it’s nice to bring it home and focus on the good quality, long lasting stuff – made with love! This song was also tracked at my home studio (yep it was homemade) with some of my favourite good quality humans”

Cause I’m homemade honey
Yeah I’m free like the breeze in your hair
Yeah I’m homemade honey
The kinda sweet that you breathe in the air
A little like gold
Sticks in your soul
The kind you can’t find with money
I’m homemade, honey

Caitlyn Shadbolt is an Australian contemporary country artist and songwriter. A finalist in the sixth season of The ‘X Factor’ Australia (2014), Caitlyn secured a recording deal with ABC MUSIC and released her debut album, Songs On My Sleeve (May 2017). The first single, ‘My Break Up Anthem’, held the #1 National Country Airplay Chart for over 8 consecutive weeks and became the 2nd most played song on Country Radio (held out of the top spot by Sam Hunt’s monster hit ‘Body Like A Backroad’).

Caitlyn was recognised for her achievements by winning the CMC Award for Best New Artist, along with a nomination for Female Artist of the Year. Since then, Caitlyn has released two further albums, “Stages”, and the most recent “Bloom & Surrender.” Caitlyn recently completed her degree in Health Sciences specialising in Naturopathy as well.
