Lucy Parle – Burn For You

ABOUT THE SONG – BURN FOR YOU

Lucy’s latest offering, ‘Burn For You’, is a country cover of the original John Farnham song. Leaning on a traditional country landscape, the song features Lucy’s cozy twang, anchored upon beautiful country sounds.

“Having previously released only original songs, I chose to cover ‘Burn For You’ because it is a beautiful Australian song with heartfelt lyrics. I fell in love with it and being true to my sound, I recorded it as a country song with my signature twang over a blend of banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Being authentic to the emotion in the lyrics, what you hear is my raw voice with no fancy production tricks”. – Lucy Parle.

LUCY PARLE BIOGRAPHY

Few storytellers can distil raw emotion into melody like Lucy Parle. The golden-haired songbird’s authentic take on Country music, pageants wisdom beyond her years.

Like many starry-eyed singers she started small, playing to whoever would listen. Attending school during the week, then frequenting every market, café, restaurant – or even pub – that she could on the weekend, the talented 12-year-old was well and truly hustling. “My mum would always be close by and I remember sometimes I would just be playing to her.” Lucy took every opportunity to hone her craft. “Sometimes I would even busk outside Coles while I waited for my mum to do the shopping.”

Her commitment paid dividends. Two years later, the singer-songwriter was crowned the victor of Central Coast Discovered and was accepted into the prestigious Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, where she received mentorship from some of Australia’s brightest and most enduring stars.

The Australian Songwriters Association named her Youth Songwriter of the Year in 2017 and 2020 as well as Folk/Acoustic Songwriter of the Year in 2018. She won the ‘Youth Songwriter’ category at the Tamworth Songwriters Association Award’s in 2019 and 2020, and took out first place in the coveted International Songwriting Competition (ISC), ‘Teen’ category in 2020.

In the space of 4 years Lucy had gone from aspiring musician to bonafide star on the rise. As a standout performer in triple j’s Unearthed High (2020, 2021), Lucy attracted the attention of boutique indie label, Double Drummer and ORiGiN Music Publishing. Joining the label roster, she released her stories to the world; eventually clocking over 1 million streams on DSPs and earning her the moniker, “the Australian Taylor Swift”.

Eventually the market stalls and crowded restaurant corners were traded for vibrantly lit stages and theatres around the country. As opening act for Greta Stanley (2022), Casey Barnes (2022), Ash Grunwald (2023), Alex Lloyd (2023), 1927 (2023), Mahalia Barnes (2024) and The Whitlams (2024), she more than earned her stripes. Experiencing Lucy’s live show is like having a chat with your best friend; relaxed, fun and uninhibited.

Accolades and opportunities came swiftly, but in 2022 the singer-songwriter found herself at a fork in the road. “I took a conscious step back to reflect on the direction my music was heading.” Waving goodbye to her publisher and label in 2023, Lucy returned to her Country roots and began work with multi award winning veteran Australian producer, Rod McCormack (The Wolfe Brothers, Lee Kernaghan, Paul Kelly), whilst collaborating with a host of ace writers in Nashville.

Lucy’s most recent releases, ‘Best of Me’ and ‘Love Yourself Better’, scored playlist recognition on Apple Music and were added on full rotation to Kix Country, iHeart Radio, ABC Country, Australian Country Radio and CMT Australia, among many others. This is no small feat for an up and coming artist.

Lucy’s songwriting is fearless; her voice, self-assured; and her sound, equally authentic and fresh.

Miguel Rios – Joys Of Sin

I met up with Miguel Rios, a very well- known singer/songwriter from Victoria and Martin Sykes a well- known musician from Queensland at a DAG Songwriter’s Retreat. We had such a great time working on this song and it received a standing ovation from fellow songwriters when the boys performed it that night.

Joys Of Sin was inspired by teenage memories of my Father advising my brothers to be aware, that beautiful women they may meet up with in some establishments, are more interested in your money than your company. And to definitely not drink anything you are offered, as you could go to sleep and wake up the next morning, with no money and no memory of what happened to you.

No PROMISES – Hold The Door

No PROMISES are a dynamic Alt Country duo from South Gippsland, in country Victoria. Masterful storytellers, they have a huge catalogue of original music, and are currently recording their third and fourth album simultaneously.

‘HOLD THE DOOR’ is the angsty break up banger you’ve been waiting for.
With a dash of Chrissie Amphlett and a sprinkling of Stevie Nicks with a country twist, Janine’s emotive vocals tell the tale of a woman pushed to the brink and ready to fly the coop.

Gritty, raw, punchy alt country rock at its finest. Eric’s electric guitar work captures the angry undertones of the song perfectly and when that solo kicks you in the face and the band bring it on home, you’ll be wanting to replay this song again and again.
Recorded live in the No PROMISES studio with their newly formed band, ‘Hold The Door’ is a tantalizing little taste of things to come.

Brendon Walmsley – Cooladdi

BRENDON WALMSLEY – NEW SINGLE – COOLADDI

Following the much-loved debut single and title track of Brendon Walmsley’s highly anticipated album ‘Road To Riverleigh’, comes a song whose story is sure to inspire.

Based on actual events, Brendon Walmsley’s second single takes us out into south-western Queensland to Australia’s smallest town – Cooladdi. In the grip of the worst drought in living memory, December brings little merriment to Cooladdi. Is a Christmas miracle for this often overlooked community too much to ask for?

‘Cooladdi’ sees Brendon Walmsley’s songwriting and storytelling mastery in full flight. Combined with Rod McCormack’s beautifully perceptive production, we find ourselves in the midst of the Cooladdi locals – caught in the heat haze of their despair, desperately searching the heavens for any sign of hope.

Brendon recalls that real-life moment. “What happened that night in Cooladdi went beyond expectation and explanation. To be caught in this story as it unfolded, a song demanded to be written.”

For almost a decade, Brendon has joined a team of volunteers passionate about bringing a little bit of Christmas connection to outback communities by providing a free concert and BBQ event known as ‘Christmas for the Bush Bash’. Under the banner of charity organisation ‘Care Outreach’, the team travels to places like Eromanga, Windorah, Augathella, Quilpie and Cooladdi.

“It’s an amazing privilege to join these communities for an evening of the festive season”, Brendon said. “To hear the stories, and in the case of ‘Cooladdi’, to be part of their story – is an experience I’ll forever be grateful for.”

In the countdown to Christmas, spare a thought for those who battle to persevere through the elements and isolation. Like Cooladdi, may they know they’re not forgotten.

Blake Shelton – Texas

Country superstar Blake Shelton releases his new single, “Texas”, a fresh and addictive song that captures the classic theme of lost love with a twist and nod to George Strait, who knows best where all the exes go!

“The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself,” said Shelton. “I think there’s something really special about this record and important for me.”

The song finds a man left in the dust by a free-spirited woman who has no clue where she has gone but speculates that she’s probably in Texas. It’s wrapped up in classic Texas charm, with a catchy call-and-response that invites listeners to sing along.

Written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr & Lalo Guzman, “Texas ” is Shelton’s debut for BBR MUSIC GROUP/BMG NASHVILLE and Wheelhouse Records. The song is produced by Shelton’s longtime, award-winning producer, Scott Hendricks.

“This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single,” said Shelton. “It’s connected with what I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”

With 29 #1 singles, Shelton recently topped the charts with Post Malone and the smash hit “Pour Me A Drink.”

Lane Pittman – Amen For The Weekend

That sweet feeling on a Friday afternoon when all the work is done, and the weekend is here. The first release from Lane Pittman since his number #1 Australian Country debut EP in March this year. “Amen For The Weekend” is the enlightenment we need when the world around us starts to feel like it’s falling apart. It’s the friendly, upbeat reminder that it’ll all work out.

Drawing on inspiration from the new era of Country music and the likes of Shaboozey and Morgan Wallen, “Amen For The Weekend” was produced and co-written by Grammy Nominated producer Imad Royal (Doja Cat, Panic! At The Disco), alongside Blaise Railey and Sean Kennedy. Filled with boot stomping, hand clapping rhythms and a chorus destined to be stuck in your head for days.

Lane is excited by the evolution of his sound, stating that: it’s a departure from anything we’ve done so far. Once I got into the studio and put my vocals on it, that completely changed! The production by Imad Royal is something special and definitely a new sound my listeners haven’t heard from me. Amen has so much energy in it, so I’m excited to play it live and really get the crowd involved!

Fans will have the opportunity to hear it live now as Lane has been announced as Luke Combs’ support for when he returns to Australia and New Zealand for his 2025 headline stadium tour. This is off the back of already supporting Luke in 2023 on his headline arena tour. Woven into the tour is a quick stop at Tamworth Country Music Festival, where Lane and his band will be making their Longyard Hotel debut.

This follows an already packed 2024 touring schedule playing some of the country’s biggest festivals: CMC Rocks, Meatstock, Gympie Muster, Perth Muster, Savannah in the Round and BigSound. Not to mention playing spotlight performances at Nashville’s CMA Fest and recently supporting Riley Green (US) on his x2 Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane shows. 2024 has also seen Lane Pittman release his debut self-titled EP, entering in at #1 in the ARIA Australian Country Album Chart. The success continued by selling out venues across QLD, NSW and Melbourne on his first headline run.

Can we get an Amen?
