NATHAN LAMONT SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘I’M CALLING SHOTGUN’ + PERFORMING AT DENI UTE MUSTER

Country music rising star Nathan Lamont backs up his Top 20 hit ‘Skin to Skin’ today with a smooth and catchy new single ‘I’m Calling Shotgun’.

The mid-tempo track exudes a vibe that beckons you to extend your hand out the car window like an airplane soaring through open skies, evoking the carefree spirit of a road trip. From the amped up guitars and pounding drums to Nathan’s effortless vocal, the song emulates four-wheel freedom.

Co-written with producer Alex Mather, the pair cleverly bend lyrics about seizing the open road into a timeless live song. “We explored how we could expand on the meaning of the title name and the song’s narrative quickly evolved into being about a guy who was in love with a girl who was on the cusp of leaving a toxic relationship. The song’s chorus lists the things that they could do together if she was ready for someone new, and that he would be ‘calling shotgun’.”

They called on some of the best in the business to build the track, recording in the global epicentre for country music – Nashville, TN. Music City session musicians Sol Philcox-Littlefield (Electric Guitar), Evan Hutchings (Drums), Tim Marks (Bass), Tim Galloway (Acoustic) and David Dorn (Keys) came together to track the song in single session. Nathan later laid down his vocals at Alex Mather’s Only Hits Studio in Sydney.

The song’s music video, shot by Jeremy Minett of Eyes and Ears Creative, echo’s the lyric’s sentiment. “Choosing Jeremy was a no-brainer for me. Jeremy is not just a great guy, but a phenomenally talented videographer. We only had half a day to pull everything together and we had to use our time wisely.” The two wasted no time logging incredible footage of Nathan on a picturesque backroad, backlit by a fading golden sun.

‘I’m Calling Shotgun’ is the kind of super catchy country pop hit Nathan is becoming known for, and fans can see him performing the track live at his single launch event at Tilly’s in Wagga Wagga on Friday 12th July. His previous single ‘Skin to Skin’ peaked at #16 on the CountryTown Hot 50 airplay charts and remained in the Top 50 for 9 weeks straight. The Wiradjuri singer-songwriter was also recently recognised as a Top 5 finalist in the 2024 APRA AMCOS Professional Development Awards.

As a member of the prestigious Toyota Star Maker alumni, Nathan is no stranger to the stage. He’s supported previous winner Loren Ryan, as well as Australian legends Thirsty Merc, Taxiride and Morgan Evans. This year he makes his debut at the much-loved 2024 Deni Ute Muster.

One to watch, singer/ songwriter Emmagen Rain, celebrates the release of her new single, “Love Me Like a Cowboy” on her 17th birthday. The song which is co-written with Emmagen and Ingrid Oram; was also produced by Oram and mixed by Peter Holz.

As Emmagen describes the track, “‘Love Me Like A Cowboy’ is about being with someone you know you definitely shouldn’t be with. Your friends are rolling their eyes and shaking their heads but you just wanna live in the moment. Even though you know it won’t last, you’ll stay until he leaves (like a light on)”.

LINC PHELPS GOES ‘HUNDRED PERCENT’ WITH HIS LATEST SINGLE

Queensland country rocker Linc Phelps, doesn’t do things in halves. Recently signing to Nybor Records, the singer-songwriter today unveils his new single ‘Hundred Percent’.

‘Hundred Percent’ is pure joy from the moment you press play. The sounds of old school country meet rock n’ roll swagger, as Linc invites us to go all in on life. “If ya gonna make a plan man, hundred percent / If ya gonna hit the road man, hundred percent.”

The song’s title arose between a conversation with Linc and producer, Gavin Carfoot. “Hundred Percent came about after my producer bought to my attention, how many times I say ‘Hundred Percent’ in my day-to-day conversations. I started thinking about what that means to me and basically, it’s about being “all in”. Whether its relationships, work, rest or play – just give it your all and be a Hundred Percent your authentic self.”

As the mastermind behind the sounds of new stars like James Johnston, Max Jackson and Melanie Dyer, Carfoot was without a doubt the man to bring Linc’s cheerful hit to life. “From top to bottom, I wanted to exude joy and fun with this project – and really just make people move,” Thomas Rhett says, describing a set which takes timeless romantic nostalgia to Country’s progressive cutting edge. “I went into making this record with a fearless attitude, put my blinders on and my head down to try and make really fun music.”

Fourteen anthemic instant classics were the result, all but one co-written by Thomas Rhett, diverse in style but connected by a sense of movement. The tempos were kept high and the melodies tight, and while organic Country makes up the foundation, layers of retro ’80s sounds and thumping beats help him find new ways to do what he does so well – tribute a woman’s love. Now enjoying a life chapter that allows he and wife Lauren a little space to tend their romantic flame – the muse for so much of his work – the famous family man shines with renewed excitement.

“I feel like if you were to ask me what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife, and it gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways,” he adds.

Produced primarily by Dann Huff and Julian Bunetta, the set begins with the lighthearted “Fool,” fusing whistled hooks to a hip-shaking rhythm, and opening the kinetic-Country floodgates before its already Top-30-bound lead single “Beautiful As You” explodes like a chain reaction of heart-pounding modern Country. Emotions run hot in the thumping, chill-Country standout “Overdrive,” while Thomas Rhett rides a romantic buzz until the sun comes up in the velvet smooth “After All The Bars Are Closed.” Tunes like “Gone Country” pair irresistible beats and a slow-burning acoustic groove for a tribute to the timeless attraction of Country life, and with the smouldering “Something ‘Bout A Woman,” he takes an approach he’s never before considered, exploring the soulful spot where Stevie Wonder meets The Rolling Stones. Likewise, the star-crossed sway of “Back To Blue” seems to build on the story laid out in roots classics like “Fishin’ In The Dark” – both melodically and lyrically – and while Thomas Rhett calls “What Could Go Right” his favourite track on the album, tracks like “Country For California” offer a rare-for-him look at heartbreak.

Thomas Rhett doesn’t do much heartbreak, but even so, with a howling monster of a sing-along chorus, “Don’t Wanna Dance” is as epic as heartbreakers get. Built around an interpolation of the Whitney Houston mega hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” it turns the iconic song’s joyful desire upside down. The set closes on its only ballad, “I Could Spend Forever Loving You,” as Thomas Rhett signs off with a promise as genuine as it is tender – and so spacious it’s almost exposed.

Today, GRAMMY, CMA and ACM-Award winning singer-songwriter Carly Pearce releases her highly anticipated fourth studio album hummingbird. Focus track: truck on fire.

Produced by Pearce, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne, hummingbird marks Pearce’s debut as a co-producer and fully represents her new musical chapter – one of forward motion.
