Drawing inspiration from the highs and lows of his life, “What Got Me Here” serves as a tribute to the people and experiences that have shaped his journey. In Kirkness’ own words, “I wanted to put something in the world that was an honest reflection of the struggle and the highs and lows of my life, while paying a real homage to the people that got me here. It’s deeply personal to me, but at the same time very universal. This is what got me here.”
The track is already making waves in the industry, charting on the prestigious Top 100 Music Row Chart, and securing spots on several influential Spotify playlists, including North Country. Fans will also recognize Kirkness’ signature sound from his music videos currently airing on CMT Australia, as well as his successful 2024 promotional tour in Australia, along with solid radio play across the country.
A celebrated artist, Kirkness was named Male Artist of the Year by the Manitoba Country Music Association (MCMA) in 2023, and his album has now surpassed 1,000,000 global streams.
While currently planning a 12 city Canadian Tour in March 2025, Jason plans to return to Australia for future touring and promotion. His music continues to build momentum as it reaches listeners across the world, with growing anticipation for each new release.
