Brisbane singer-songwriter Dennis Comino is stepping into a new chapter with the release of “Dancing on a Fault Line”, the lead single from his highly anticipated debut album YOUTH , due Friday 23rd October.Blending folk, rock and alt-country with an infectious indie/pop edge, “Dancing on a Fault Line” is an uplifting, feel-good escape about leaving your worries behind and embracing the moment, even when life feels uncertain. At its heart, the song is about resilience, movement and finding the courage to keep going when the path ahead isn’t clear.
“Dancing on a Fault Line” sets the tone for YOUTH, a deeply personal 10-track debut album that explores growing up, love, change, uncertainty, nostalgia, family and the process of becoming someone new while still holding onto the person you once were. For Dennis, YOUTH began almost two years ago when he revisited and completely rewrote two songs, “Youth” and “Both of Us”.“They were completely different songs before that, and finishing them felt like I had finally found the direction I’d been aiming for. After that, I finished a couple more tracks and thought, why not keep going and make an album?”What followed was a collection of songs that gradually became a snapshot of a formative period in Dennis’ life.“From there, the project slowly became a collection of moments, feelings and versions of myself from a really formative period of my life. To me, YOUTH is about growing up while still trying to hold onto the parts of yourself that existed before everything became more complicated.”Rather than being created from one definitive plan, the album evolved organically as Dennis experienced the highs, lows and changes of the past two years.“A lot of the album came together naturally rather than from one clear plan, and I think that’s part of what makes it so personal to me. It feels like a snapshot of these past two years and everything that shifted within them.”More than simply a collection of songs, YOUTH is Dennis’s way of capturing memories before allowing himself to move forward.“More than anything, I hope people hear some part of themselves in it. I hope it reminds listeners of certain people, places, memories or versions of themselves they thought they had forgotten. YOUTH is my way of holding onto those moments, while also learning to let them go.”Dennis Comino is quickly establishing himself as an artist to watch, bringing powerhouse vocals, impressive guitar skills and infectious live energy to every performance. An official Cole Clark Guitars touring artist and 2021 Junior Graduate of the Academy of Country Music, Dennis has already performed at some of Australia’s biggest music festivals, including Gympie Music Muster, Woodford Folk Festival and Tamworth Country Music Festival, as well as performing on multiple stages in Nashville, Tennessee. He has shared the stage with Australian artists including Dean Lewis and Travis Collins, while also supporting The Wet Whistles, Andy Penkow, Caitlyn Shadbolt and Australian music icon Ross Wilson.Cutting his teeth gigging throughout Brisbane and surrounding areas, Dennis has developed a distinctive sound that refuses to sit neatly within one genre. Drawing on folk, rock and alt-country, with an indie/pop edge, his music is influenced by artists including Mumford & Sons, Noah Kahan, ROLE MODEL, Zach Bryan, Sam Fender and The Lumineers. In August 2024, Dennis released his debut EP Dead in the Water, a six-track collection of raw, heartfelt songs exploring love, heartbreak and the realities of growing up. The EP received airplay across Australia, the USA, UK and Europe, further establishing Dennis as a songwriter capable of connecting with audiences well beyond his hometown. Now, with “Dancing on a Fault Line” leading the way, Dennis is ready to introduce listeners to the next chapter.
